Hudson Manor Chapel Wedding – Adam and Lauren

A spring wedding in North Carolina always comes with the threat of storms, Adam and Lauren’s wedding week was plagued by rain showers and thunderstorms. Thankfully they had booked their wedding at The Hudson Manor. Originally planning an outdoor garden ceremony, upon arriving for the rehearsal, we all realized it wasn’t to be. Without skipping a beat Melissa and her staff moved the ceremony to the Hudson Manor chapel.

Wedding Preparations

Even with all the rain and storms on their big day, you would have never known it with all the joy and happiness of the wedding day. All the preparations took place in the manor house. Adam and his groomsmen were dressed in a few minutes, as all guys do. They did have a break in the rain and were able to shoot a few portraits outdoors.

Lauren and her bridesmaids arrived at the Hudson Manor to get dressed and put the final touches on their hair and makeup. Hair and makeup services were provided by Body Bliss Salon out of Wake Forest. The ladies did an amazing job, with all the rain and high humidity, Lauren’s hair and makeup were perfect all day long. Surrounded by her bridesmaids, Lauren loved breathtaking in her Maggi Bridal gown.

Hudson Manor Chapel Wedding

While not taking place in the location she had dreamed of, the Hudson Manor chapel ceremony more than captured the beauty and intimacy of the ceremony she wanted. Fresh Affairs transformed the space from a simple chapel to elegant ceremony.

Formal Portraits

I am always trying to bring new elements into my wedding portraits. For this wedding, I brought a piece of vintage furniture from Homemade-Bride. Homemade-Bride provides rental decor for weddings, events, and parties. If you are looking for a simple vase or vintage seating for your wedding, they will have it to meet your needs. For the wedding, I brought the lounge chair named “Jade.” It was perfect for both bridal portraits or couples portraits.

When Lauren and I first spoke on the phone, she made it known that she wanted a lot of portraits. Above all else, she wanted portraits of her and her soon to be husband. Even with all the rain and storms, we were blessed with some downtime in the rain. We were able to shoot all over the grounds of the Hudson Manor. Even with the last few seconds of daylight fading, we were able to capture a portrait with blue sky.
